ADMINISTRATION OF MUSLIM LAW (THIRD AMENDMENT) ENACTMENT 1980

Section 4. New section 171A.

The Administration of Muslim Law Enactment 1962 is hereby amended by adding the following new section 171A immediately after section 171:

"Power to Investigate

171A. (1) The Majlis or the President may appoint in writing such number of officers to be investigating officers for the purpose of conducting investigation on any offence under this Enactment or rules and regulations made thereunder.

(2) The Majlis or the President may appoint in writing such number of officers for the purpose of conducting any investigation relating to any civil malpractices or derelictions under the provisions of this Enactment or rules and regulations made thereunder.

(3) Such investigations shall follow as closely as possible the procedures contained in any other law relating to civil and criminal proceeding in the State.

(4) The appointments made under sub-sections (1) and (2) shall be published in the Gazette."
