PART II - MAJLIS Constitution
Section 13. Membership.
(1) The Majlis shall consist of a President and not less than seven other members, all of whom, with the exception of the president, shall be appointed by His Highness the SuItan in Council for such period as he may deem fit :
Provided that one member shall be an Indian Muslim and one a Pakistan Muslim.
(2) The President of the Religious Affairs Department shall be ex 0fficio President of the Majlis and shall be its Chief Executive Officer.
(3) Subject as in this Enactment otherwise provided and unless the contrary appears in the instrument of appointment, the appointment of members of the Majlis shall be deemed to have been made for a period of three years from the date thereof. The members of the Majlis shall be eligible for reappointment.
( 4) No person shall be appointed a Member of the Majlis unless he is a male over the age of 21 years, professing the Muslim religion.
(5) No member of the Majlis who is not a subject of His Highness the Sultan shall take part in any discussion relating to matters of purely Malay custom.
(6) Pending any appointment under this section, the persons heretofore constituting the Majlis Ugama Islam dan Istiadat Melayu shall be deemed to have been appointed and to hold corresponding office under this Enactment.
