ENACTMENT NO. 5 OF 1956 ADMINISTRATION OF THE LAW OF THE RELIGION OF ISLAM ENACTMENT 1956
PART III - RELIGIOUS COURTS JURISDICTION
Section 54. Arrest without warrant.
Any police officer and, if no police officer is known to be avaIlable, any Penghulu, or Imam may arrest without warrant-
(a) any person who has committed or attempted to commit in his presence any offence against this Enactment involving a breach of the peace;
(b) any person who has committed in his presence any offence under sections 156, 157, 160, 165, 166, 167, 169, and 170 of this Enactment and who refuses or fails to give on request his full and true name and address; or
(c) any person against whom a warrant issued under this Enactment is extant, although such warrant is not in the possession of such police officer, Penghulu or Imam;
and shall thereupon produce such person or cause him to be produced without unnecessary delay, and in any event within twenty-four hours, before the Court.
