Section 10. Membership.

(1) The Majlis shall consist of the President, the Mufti and not less than five or more than nine Muslims, all of whom, with the exception of the President and Mufti, shall be appointed by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong for such period as he may deem fit.

(2) The President of the Religious Affairs Department, Malacca shall be ex-officio President of the Majlis and shall be its principal executive officer.

(3) Subject to the provisions of this Enactment and unless the contrary appears in the instrument of appointment, the appointment of members of the Majlis, other than the ex-officio Members, shall be for a period of three years from the date thereof.

(4) The members of the Majlis shall be eligible for re-appointment.

(5) No person shall be appointed a Member of the Majlis unless he is a male over the age of twenty-one years, professing the Muslim Religion.
