ADMINISTRATION OF MUSLIM LAW (AMENDMENT) ENACTMENT 1989

Section 4. Amendment of section 30.

The principal Enactment is amended substituting for section 30 the following section -

"Arrest without warrant

30. (1) Any Syariah Enforcement Officer, Police Officer, Penghulu or Ketua Kawasan may arrest without a warrant -

(

) any person who commits or attempts to commit in his presence any offence under this Enactment, involving a breach of the peace,

(

) any person who commits in his presence any offence under this Enactment and, when requested fails to give his full name or address or gives a name or address which is believed to be false;

(

) any person against whom a warrant under this Enactment has been issued and is still in force, although the warrant is not in the possession of the person arresting him.

(2) Upon a person being arrested under sub-section (1) such Enforcement Officer, Police Officer, Penghulu or Ketua Kawasan shall, without unnecessary delay and in any event within twenty-four hours (excluding the time of any necessary journey) produce or cause to be produced such person before a Court.
