ADMINISTRATION OF ISLAMIC LAW (AMENDMENT) ENACTMENT 1999

Section 2. Amendment of section 15 Enactment No 13 of 1992.

Section 15 of the Administration of Islamic Law Enactment 1992 is amended-

(a) by deleting subsection (1) and substituted therefor the following:

" (1) The Director of the Islamic Religious Affairs Department of Sabah shall be the Secretary, and the Yang di-Pertua Negeri may, on the advice of the Minister, appoint a person from the State Public Service to be the Deputy Secretary for such term as may be stated in the appointment."; and

(b) by deleting subsection (7) and substituted therefor the following:

" (7) The Deputy Secretary shall assist the Secretary in the exercise of his powers and the discharge of his duties under this Enactment, and may exercise such powers conferred upon the Secretary by this Enactment and discharge such duties required to be discharged by him under this Enactment, subject to such directions of a general character as may be given or such restrictions as may be imposed by the Majlis.".
