ENACTMENT NO. 8 OF 1986 KELANTAN COUNCIL OF ISLAMIC RELIGION AND MALAY CUSTOM (AMENDMENT) ENACTMENT 1986
Section 2. New Part IIA and section 15A.
(i) The Kelantan Council of Religion and Malay Custom Enactment 1966 which in this Enactment is referred to as "the principal Enactment" is amended by substituting for the words "Undang-Undang Majlis Ugama Islam dan Adat Istiadat Melayu Tahun 1966" the words "Enakmen Majlis Agama Islam dan Adat Istiadat Melayu Kelantan 1966" in section 1, Bahasa Malaysia text.
(ii) The principal Enactment is amended by inserting after section 15 the new Part IIA and section 15A as follows:
"PART IIA
DEWAN SYURA
Dewan Syura.
15A. (1) The Majlis may establish a body to be known as "Dewan Syura" (hereinafter referred to as the "Dewan").
(2) The Dewan shall consist of-
(a) a Chairman, who shall be the Mufti;
(b) a Deputy Chairman, who shall be the Timbalan Mufti;
(c) all the members of the Jumaah Ulama of the Majlis;
(d) not more than 20 other members, who are ulama and Islamic scholars and experts to be appointed by His Royal Highness;
(e) four of the members of the Majlis;
(f) two ex-officio members, who are the Secretary and the Treasurer of the Majlis.
(3) The Majlis may, by notification in the Gazette, make rules-
(a) to regulate the proceedings of the Dewan, the calling of meetings and the transaction of business;
(b) for the appointment of committees; and
(c) generally to which the Majlis considers desirable or expendient to achieve the purpose of the Dewan.".
