ENACTMENT NO. 3 OF 1989 ADMINISTRATION OF MUSLIM LAW (AMENDMENT) ENACTMENT 1989
Section 2. New section 7A.
The Administration of Muslim Law Enactment, 1959 (which in this Enactment is referred to as "the principal Enactment") is amended by inserting immediately after section 7, the following new section 7A:
"Section 7A. Role of Majlis in socio-economic activities.
(1) The Majlis shall be responsible to organize, promote, assIst and carry out activities for the improvement of economic and social well-being of Muslims in the State in accordance with Islamic Law.
(2) In order to carry out the responsibilities under sub-section (1), the Council shall have power-
(a) to carry out any activity which does not contravene Islamic Law, particul lady participating directly or indirectly, on its own or in joint venture with any person, organisation or corporation in the field of trade, commerce or industry which in the opinion of the Council necessary and benefitial for the economic upliftment of Muslims in the State;
(b) to grant or arrange for any award, scholarship, loan or other financial or educational assistance for the Muslim subject of the State;
(c) to assist or provide financial assistance to individual, organisation or institution established and admini'stered for the purpose of and in accordance with Islamic religion; and
(d) to do any other arts or carry out such activities which in the opinion of the Council necessary, expedient and benefitial to the Muslims.".
