KELANTAN COUNCIL OF ISLAMIC RELIGION AND MALAY CUSTOM (AMENDMENT)

Section 4. Amendment of section 15A.

Section 15A of the principal Enactment is amended by substituting it with the following:

" Dewan Syura.

15A. (1) The Majlis may establish a body to be known as DEWAN SYURA (hereinafter referred to as "the Dewan").

(2) The Dewan shall consist of-

(a)

a Chairman who shall be appointed by His Royal Highness the Sultan;

(b)

a Deputy Chairman who shall be appointed by His Royal Highness the Sultan;

(c)

all members of the Jumaah Ulama of the Majlis;

(d)

not more than 40 other members who are ulama and Islamic scholars and experts to be appointed by His Royal Highness the Sultan;

(e)

four members of the Majlis;

(f)

three ex-officio members who are the President, Vice President and Secretary of the Majlis.

(3) The Majlis may, by notification in the Gazette, make rules-

(a)

the regulate the proceedings of the Dewan, the calling of meetings and the transaction of business;

(b)

for the establishment of committees;

(c)

for the allowances and privileges of the members; and

(d)

generally to which the Majlis considers desirable or expedient to achieve the objectives of the Dewan.".
