ENACTMENT NO 6 OF 1993 ISLAMIC FAMILY LAW (STATE OF PENANG) (AMENDMENT) ENCTMENT 1993
Section 13. Amendment of section 47
Section 47 of the principal Enactment is amended-
(a) by deleting the word "statutory" in line 3 of subsection (1);
(b) by substituting subsection (16) and (17) with the following:
"(16) A talaq rajiipronounced by the husband unless ruju'has taken place whether expressly or otherwise or by order of court shall not end a marriage until the expiry of the period of iddah.
(17) If the wife has conceived at the time the talaqis pronounced or when the order is made, the talaqor the order shall not end the marriage until the period of pregnancy ends."; and
(c) by adding immediately after subsection (17), the followmg new subsection (18);
"(18) Nothing in this section may prevent the wife who has been divorced by talaqeffective under this section from remarrying the same husband without having been married to another person unless it js effective for the third time." .
