Interpretation (Amendment) Act 1997



Section 3. Commencement.

(1) Subject to subsections (2) , (3) , (4) and (5) , this Act shall come into force on the day of its publication in the Gazette.

(2) Sections 4, 6, 8, 9, 10 and 11 shall be deemed to have come into force on 18 May 1967 and the provisions inserted by those sections shall be deemed to have been an integral part of the long title and of sections 15, 20, 23, 25 and 27 respectively of the principal Act from that date.

(3) Any act done or purported to have been done pursuant to or under the powers conferred by sections 20, 23, 25 and 27 of the principal Act shall be deemed to have been validly done notwithstanding that those sections did not, at the time the act was done, contain the provisions inserted by sections 8, 9, 10 and 11.

(4) Subsection (3) shall not affect any right conferred or relief obtained by any person by virtue of any decision of the court pronounced prior to the date of publication of this Act.

(5) Paragraphs 5(1) (a) and 5(1) (c) shall be deemed to have come into force on 24 June 1994.
