Section 112. Appointment of pegawai masjid.
(1) It shan be the duty of the President upon learning of any vacancy or impending vacancy in the office of pegawai masjid to make enquiry for possible candidates for such appointment and, after due examination of the qualifications of such possible candidates, to select two or more of them as candidates, for election.
(2) An election shan be held in the mukim masjid, for which all adult Muslims ordinarily there resident shall be entitled to be registered as voters, and the persons so selected by the President, but no other persons shall be entitled to stand as candidates for election.
(3) The Majlis, on being satisfied that any candidate has been duly elected in manner aforesaid, shall submit his name to the Ruler with a recommendation that he be appointed to find the vacancy in question.
(4) The Ruler may appoint any fit and proper person to be a pegawai masjid of any mosque.
(5) Every person appointed to be a pegawai masjid shall receive a letter of appointment under the seal of the Ruler.
