PART V - PROCEDURE-GENERAL



Section 17. Presence of parties at hearing.

(1) The person accused of an offence shall not be tried in his absence.

(2) In the case of civil proceedings, a party may be represented by his advocate and solicitor, or by an agent authorised by him in writing in that behalf.

(3) The MajIis shall maintain yearly a register of names of suitable persons who are competent in matters pertaining to the Muslim Law to enable such persons to plead in the Court constituted under this Enactment.
