PART III - REGISTRATION OF RELIGIOUS SCHOOLS

Section 5. Registration of religious schools.

(1) Subject to subsection (2), no person or body of persons may establish or maintain a religious school unless the religious school is registered in accordance with the provisions of this Enactment.

(2) All religious schools established or maintained before this Enactment comes into operation shall be registered in accordance with the provisions of this Enactment within six months after this Enactment comes into operation or within such longer period as may be allowed by the Registrar.

(3) Any person who contravenes subsection (1) commits an offence and shall on conviction be liable to a fine not exceeding five thousand ringgit or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding three years or to both and in the case of a continuing offence, to a further fine not exceeding three hundred ringgit for each day or part of a during which the offence continues after conviction.
