PART V - PROSECUTION AND REPRESENTATION

Section 67. Chief Syariah Prosecutor and Syariah Prosecutors.

(1) Duli Yang Maha Mulia Sultan, after consulting the Majlis, may appoint a person who is qualified to be a Judge of the Syariah High Court to be the Chief Syariah Prosecutor.

(2) The Chief Syariah Prosecutor shall have power exercisable at his discretion to institute, conduct or discontinue any proceeding for an offence before any Syariah Court.

(3) The Majlis may appoint fit and proper persons from amongst the members of the State public service of Perak Darul Ridzuan to be Syariah Prosecutors.

(4) Syariah Prosecutor shall act under the general control and direction of the Chief Prosecutor and may exercise all or any of the rights and powers vested in or exercisable by the Chief Syariah Prosecutor, except and powers expressed to be exercisable by the Chief Syarie Prosecutir personally.
