ENACTMENT No. 9 Of 1962 ADMINISTRATION OF MUSLIM LAW ENACTMENT
PART II - MAJLIS Constitution
Section 11. Membership.
(1) The Majlis shall consist of the following:
(a) The President;
(b) The Secretary of the Religious Affairs Department;
(c) The Kathi Besar;
(d) The Registrar of Religious Schools;
(e) The Secretary of the Zakat Committee;
(f) The Secretary of the Baitul-Mal;
(g) Five members of Alim-Ulama appointed by His Highness on the recommendation of the President;
(h) Five members appointed by His Highness on the recommendation of the Executive Council.
(2) The President of the Religious Affairs Department, Kedah shall be the President of the Majlis and he shall be the principal executive officer.
(3) Subject to the provisions of this Enactment and unless the contrary appears in the instrument of appointment, the appointment of members of the Majlis, other than the exofficio Members, shall be for a period of three years from the date thereof.
(4) The members of the Majlis shall be eligible for reappointment.
(5) No person shall be appointed a Member of the Majlis unless he is over the age of twenty-one years, professing the Muslim Religion.
