PART II - THE MAJLIS UGAMA ISLAM NEGERI SABAH
Section 15. Appointment of Secretary and officers of the Majlis.
(1) The Director of the Islamic Religious Affirs Department of Sabah, shall be Secretary of the Majlis:
Provided that in the event the post of the Director of Islamic Affirs Department is not created, the Yang di-Pertua Negeri may, on the advice of the Minister, appoint a person from the State Public Service to be the Secretary for such term as may be stated in the appointment.
(2) The The Secretary shall be the chief executive and administrative officer of the Majlis and shall be responsible for carrying out the policies and resolutions of the Majlis.
(3) The Majlis shall appoint one or more officers of the Majlis who shall be responsible to the Secretary to implement particular duties and responsibilities of the Majlis as the majlis may deem necessary.
(4) The Secretary is entitled to attend all meetings of the Majlis and take part in the discussion, but may not vote.
(5) The Secretary shall be ex-officio member of the Majlis, who shall act as secretary in the meetings of Majlis.
(6) The Secretary shall subject to the direction of the Majlis, be responsible for the day-to day administration of the Majlis and as implement decisions of the Majlis, and shall execute any powers or duties specified by the Majlis.
(7) If the Secretary is unable to perform his duties as such due to him being outside the State, or due to other causes, the Majlis any appoint one of its officers to perform the duties of a Secretary during the period the Secretary is unable to perform his duties.
(8) Persons who immediately before the commencement of this Enactment held offices as a Secretary or officers of the Majlis shall, object to this Enactment, be deemed to have been appointed to their respective offices under this section.
