Section 18. Membership of the Syariah Appeal Court.

(1) An appeal in the Syariah Appeal Court shall be heard and determined by a Chairman any two Syarie Judges of the Syariah ppeal Court as specified by the Chief Syarie Judge.

(2) The Chief Syarie Judge may appoint any Syarie Judge of the Syariah High Court to become a member of the Syariah Appeak Court in any specific proceeding if the Chief Syarie Judge thinks necessary to do so.

(3) The two persons appointed to be members of the Syariah Appeal Court under subsections (1) and (2) shall not include the Syarie Judge who tried or made decision on the case appealed against.

(4) The Chief Syarie Judge shall be the Chairman in every proceeding in the Syariah Appeal Court, and in case he is unable to perform his duty, the Chief Syarie Judge shall appoint the most senior amongst the Syarie Judges of the Syarie Appeal Court to become the Chairman.
