ENACTMENT NO. 3 OF 1982 ADMINISTRATION OF THE SYARIAH COURT ENACTMENT 1982
PART III - JURISDICTION OF SYARIAH COURT
Section 13. Powers of the Penyelia Ugama.
(1) The Penyelia Ugama shall:
(a) receive information of the commission of an offence and make any necessary investigation;
(b) if so authorised by any written law in force in the Syariah Court examine or arrest any person committing any offence or suspected of committing any offence;
(c) require the attendance of and question a witness connected with the investigation;
(d) require a bond for the appearance of any arrested person; and
(e) carry out other powers and duties which are conferred by any written law.
(2) In matters of arrest, investigation and inquiry not specifically provided for in this Enactment or any regulation made thereunder, the powers and regulations for the exercise of powers by the Penyelia Ugama shall be in conformity with the law and regulations applicable to a police officer not below the rank of an Inspector F.M.S. under the Criminal Procedure Code [F.M.S. Cap. 6.] for the time being in force.
