ENACTMENT NO. 1 OF 1949 COUNCIL OF RELIGION AND MALAY CUSTOM ENACTMENT, 1369 (1949)
Section 12. Appeals from Sharaiah Courts.
Notwithstanding the provisions of any law to the contrary, the Council shall have exclusive jurisdiction to hear and determine appeals, both in civil and criminal matters, from decisions of the Sharaiah Courts.
Provided that there shall be no appeal from the decision of a Sharaiah Court in a criminal matter-
(a) except by the person convicted, against a conviction;
(b) except with the written sanction of the Kathi, against an acquittal;
(c) except by the person convicted, as to the extent or legality of the sentence.
