Section 27. Syariah Appeal Committee.

(1) Before the Syariah Appeal Court is constituted under this Enactment, the power of the Syariah Appeal Court shall be exercised by the Syariah Appeal Committee which shall consist of three members, namely the Chief Syarie Judge as the Chairman, one member who possesses experience in matters of Syariah Court or civil courts appointed on the advice of the Majlis after obtaining credentials from the Yang di-Pertua Negeri and one member selected from a group of seven Muslim persons appointed on the advice of the Majlis once every three years after having obtained credentials from the Yang di-Pertua Negeri.

(2) In the absence of any member mentioned in subsection (1), the Yang di-Pertua Negeri shall appoint his replacement from the said group and the most senior member shall become the Chairman.
