Section 26. Appointment of Chief Registrar, Registrars, Deputy Registrars and Assistant Registrars of Muslim Marriages, Divorces and Ruju’
(1) The Yang di-Pertua Negeri may, by notification in the Gazette, appoint any member of the diplomatic staff of Malaysia in any country to be the Registrar of Muslim Marriages, Divorces Ruju' for the purposes of this Ordinance in that country.
(2) The Majlis may appoint any qualified public officer to be the Chief Registrar of Muslim Marriages, Divorces and Ruju' for the purposes of this Ordinance, who shall have general supervision control over Registrars and the registration of marriages, divorces ruju' under this Ordinance.
(3) The Chief Registrar, with the approval of the Majlis, may appoint as many qualified persons as may be necessary, to be the Registrars, Deputy Registrars or Assistant Registrars of Muslim Marriages, Divorces and Ruju' for such kariah masjid in the State as may be specified in the appointments.
(4) Every person appointed under subsection (3) who is not a public officer shall be deemed to be a public officer for the purposes of the Penal Code [Act 574].
