ENACTMENT NO. 5 OF 1956 ADMINISTRATION OF THE LAW OF THE RELIGION OF ISLAM ENACTMENT 1956
PART VII - MAINTENANCE OF DEPENDANTS
Section 139. Lawful minor children.
(1) A minor under the age of fifteen years may by application in the Court of a Kathi, to be made either personally or through a representative as provided in section 72 of this Enactment, obtain an order against his lawful father or any other person liable in accordance with the Law of the Religion of Islam to support him for the payment from time to time in cash or kind in respect of his maintenance as he may be entitled to in accordance with the Law of the Religion of Islam.
(2) It shall be a sufficient defence to any such app1ication that the applicant has sufficient means to support himself.
