PART IV. - MOSQUES

Section 84. Appointment of Pegawai Masjid.

(1) The Duli Yang Maha Mulia Sultan, on the advice of the Majlis, may appoint a Imam Besar of the State of Terengganu, and one or several Imam for every mosque in the State of Terengganu.

(2) The Majlis shall appoint, for every mosque in the State of Terengganu, one or several Bilal.

(3) For every mosque that is determined by the Duli Yang Maha Mulia Sultan after consulting the Majlis and the State Executive Council the Imam and Bilal be appointed from amongst members of the Terengganu State public service.

(4) For every mosque that is not determined under subsection (3), the post of Imam and Bilal shall be appointed from amongst the anak qariah of the mosque.

(5) Upon the commencement of this section, every person who, immediately before the commencement of this section, was the Imam Besar, Imam or Bilal of mosques appointed under the previous Enactment shall be deemed to have been duly appointed of the mosques and shall, subject to section 86, continue to hold offices as the Imam Besar, or Bilal of such mosque.
