Zakat and Fitrah

Section 55. Powers of amiI.

(1) Subject to any exemptions set out in this Enactment, no person shall have the right to collect, take or accept zakat and fitrah that is payable to the Majlis other than amils who is appointed by the Majlis or any person who are given written authority by the MajIis.

(2) An amil who is appointed under section 53 (1) has authority in his area only.

(3) A Muslim who is liable to pay zakat and fitrah shall make the payment in his area and if such person fails to do so, after the amil in that area have entered his name in the assessment list, the amil shall immediately report the matter to the Majlis.

(4) If because of a syarie disability or any other definite cause, a person is unable to pay the zakat and fitrah to the amil in his area, the Majlis may order that he pay it in any place or to any amil as fixed.
