PART IV - KATHI'S COURTS
Section 13. Appeals to Appeal Committee.
(1) An Appeal shall lie to the Appeal Committee from any decision or order of a Court in the following cases, that is to say:
(a)in respect of criminal jurisdiction, by a person convicted of an offence under this Enactment; such appeal being against conviction or sentence, or both;
(b)in respect of civil jurisdiction-
(i) by any person aggrieved by such decision or order;
(ii) in all cases relating to maintenance of dependants, other than cases decided with the consent of the parties, by any person aggrieved by the decision.
(2) The Appeal Committee shall have power-
(a)in a criminal matter, to quash the conviction of the Court or reduce any sentence imposed by that Court or to order a retrial before another Kathi;
(b) in a civil matter, to confirm, reverse or vary the decision or order of the Court to exercise such powers as that court could have exercised or to order a retrial before another Kathi.
