PART XII - GENERAL PROCEDURE

Section 237. Representation by agent.

(1) Any accused person in a criminal proceeding shall appear in person and shall subject to section 236 be allowed to obtain the assistance of a legal practitioner of his choice.

(2) In a civil proceeding, a party may appear either in person or by an agent or by his counsel.
