Section 17. Appointment of Syariah Subordinate Court Judges
(1) His Royal Highness the Sultan may, on the recommendation of the Chief Syarie Judge, appoint from amongst members of the general public service of the State the Judges of the Syariah Subordinate Courts.
(2) All appointments under subsection (1) shall be published in the Gazette.
(3) A person who, immediately before the commencement of this section, was holding the post of Syariah Subordinate Court Judge and was performing judicial functions shall, on the commencement of this section, continue to hold office as Judges of Syariah Subordinate Court Judge as if he had been appointed under subsection (1).
