Section 94. Duty of Mufti regarding the determination of the appearance of the moon and the new moon.

(1) It shall be the duty of the Mufti to direct and make arrangements to make enquiry to determine the beginning of the Hijrah month or the new moon in any month that is considered necessary and the Qadhi Besar shall institute enquiries for the sighting of the new moon to ascertain whether the new moon can be seen or not and to certify the result of the enquiry.

(2) The Mufti shall forthwith submit the matter to His Royal Highness the Sultan who will then give his royal command regarding the matter to be enforced in the State.
