PART V - PROCEDURE-GENERAL



Section 18. Service.

(1) Process of the Court shall be served by an officer of the Court or any other person expressly authorised by the Court to serve the same, and may be served at any place within the State and at any time.

(2) Service of the said process shall be personal:

Provided that for special reasons the Court may in the case of civil proceedings authorise substituted service.

(3) Personal service shall be effected by handing to the person to be served the original or a sealed and signed copy of the document to be served or, if such person refuses to accept such document, by bringing his notice to such document and by leaving it near him.

(4) Substituted service shall be effected in such manner as the Court may order.

(5) A person who has served any document shall forthwith file in Court a memorandum showing the place, time and method of service.

(6) Service shall where necessary be proved by oral evidence.
