PART II - MAJLIS CONSTITUTION

Section 4. Establishment of Majlis.

(1) There is hereby established a body which shall be a body corporate by the name of "Majlis Ugama Islam dan Adat Istiadat Melayu, Kelantan" (hereinafter referred to the "The Majlis"), and shall have perpetual succession and may sue and be sued in its corporate name.

(2) The Majlis shall have a common seal and may from time to time make, change, alter and make a new the said seal as the Majlis deems fit, and until a seal is provided under this section a stamp bearing the inscription "Majlis Ugama dan Adat Istiadat Melayu, Kelantan" may be used as a corporate seal.

(3) The Majlis shall consist of a President, a Vice-President, the Mufti Kerajaan and not less than six other members, all of whom shall be appointed by His Highness the Sultan and shall receive a Tauliah under His Sign Manual and Seal for a period not exceeding three years.

(4) Unless the contrary appears in the instrument of appointment, every such appointment other than that of the Mufti Kerajaan shall be deemed to have been made for a period of three years from the date thereof.

(5) The Provisions of the Schedule to this Enactment shall have effect with respect to the Majlis.

(6) His Highness the Sultan shall appoint any fit and proper person to be -

) The Treasurer;

to the Majlis.

(7) Any employee of the Majlis except the President and the Vice-President of the Majlis, shall not be appointed as a member of the Majlis.

(8) Pending any appointment under this section the persons heretofore constituting the Majlis Ugama Islam dan Adat Istiadat Melayu shall be deemed to have been appointed and to hold corresponding office under this Enactment.
