ENACTMENT NO. 8 OF 1982 THE ADMINISTRATION OF THE RELIGION OF ISLAM AND,
THE MALAY CUSTOM OF PAHANG ENACTMENT 1982
PART II - CONSTITUTION OF MAJLIS
Section 14. Membership and appointment.
(1) The members of the Majlis shall consist of -
(a) Yang di-Pertua;
(b) Secretary;
(c) Seven ex-officio members;
(d) Not less than seven other members;
(2) Members referred to in subsection (1)(a), (b) and (c) shall be appointed by His Royal Highness the Sultan at his discretion.
(3) Members referred to in subsection (1)(d) of this section shall be appointed by His Royal Highness the Sultan on the advice of the Majlis.
(4) Subject to section 15 members of the Majlis shall hold office at the pleasure of His Royal Highness the Sultan.
(5) No person shall be appointed a Member of the Majlis unless be or she professes the Religion of Islam and is not less than 25 years of age.
(6) Before an appointment is made under this Section, persons who are members of the Majlis at the commencement of this Ehactment shall be presumed to have been appointed and to hold their respective offices under this Enactment.
(7) Remuneration of the Yang di-Pertua and the Secretary may be paid under the authority of section 118.
