PART V - MISCELLANEOUS OFFENCES RELATING TO PUBLIC JUSTICE AND SECURITY



Section 27. Giving false evidence, information or statement.

(1) Anyone who wilfully gives false evidence or fabricates false evidence for the purpose of being used in any stage of a judicial proceeding, commits an offence and shall, on conviction, be liable to a fine not exceeding three thousand ringgit or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding two years or to both.
 
(2) Anyone who knowing or having reason to believe that an offence has been committed, gives any information relating to such offence which he knows or believes to be false, commits an offence and shall, on conviction, be liable to a fine not exceeding three thousand ringgit or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding two years or to both.

 
(3) Anyone who gives false information or statement whether orally or in writing on any matter related to any written law pertaining to the Religion of Islam commits an offence and shall, on conviction, be liable to a fine not exceeding two thousand ringgit or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding one year or to both.
