Section 34. Summons to give evidence or produce documents.

(1) Subject to the provisions of any other written law the Court may issue a summons to any person to give evidence or to produce any document in his possession or power. Every such summons shall be served personally and any person so served, whether a Muslim or not, shall be legally bound to comply therewith.

(2) The Court may, before issuing such summons, order the payment of the reasonable travelling and subsistence expenses of any witness who resides more than five miles from the Court-house.
