PART II - MAJLIS
Section 5. Powers of the Majlis.
(1) The Majlis shall have-
(a) power to act as an executor of a will, administrator of the estate of a deceased Muslim person or as a trustee;
(b) power to acquire by purchase, gift or otherwise movable and immovable property and any interest therein, and to dispose of or otherwise deal with any movable or immovable property or any interest therein so acquired by the Majlis; and
(c) such other powers as may be conferred upon the Majlis under this Enactment.
(2) The Majlis shall advise the Ruler on all matters relating to Muslim Religion and Malay custom and such advice shall be given in accordance with Muslim Law, Hukom Shara' and such other Malay customary Laws as may be applicable in the State.
(3) The Majlis shall when requested by any person or any court so to do, issue a Fetua (ruling) on questions relating to the Muslim Religion or Malay custom, and such Fetua shall be issued in accordance with the provisions of this Enactment.
(4) The Majlis may appear in any court (including courts other than religious courts) by its President or Secretary or by any person appointed for that purpose either generally or in a particular case under the seal of the Majlis.
