Section 81. Restriction on establishment of mosques and penalty.

(1) No person shall, without the permission in writing of the Majlis, erect any building to be used as a mosque, or use or cause to be used any building for purposes which may only be carried on in or by a mosque.

(2) Any person who contravenes the provisions of subsection (1) shall be guilty of an offence and shall on conviction be liable to fine not exceeding five thousand ringgit or to imprisonment for term not exceeding three years or to both.
