Section 101. Cancellation or rectification of entries in register or certificate.

(1) If it appears that any entry made in any register kept, or any certificate issued, under the provisions of this Enactment, has been made or issued in error or contains any error that ought to be corrected, it shall be lawful for the President on receipt of a request to enquire into all the circumstances of the case, summarily to order after making such inquiries the cancellation or the rectification of any such entry or certificate.

(2) Upon the receipt of any such order the Registrar who made the entry or issued the certificate or the person for the time being performing the duties of the said Registrar shall immediately cancel or rectify, as the case may be, such entry or certificate according to the terms of such order.

(3) Any person to whom any such certificate has been issued and to whom a notice to cancel or rectify under this section has been given shall immediately surrender such certificate to the Registrar who issued it or to the person for the time being performing the duties of the said Registrar, for the purpose of the said cancellation or rectification.

(4) No order under this section shall be made to the prejudice of any person unless he has had an opportunity of being heard (personally or by advocate) before the President at an inquiry held under the provisions of sub-section (1) of this section.

(5) The powers of rectification or of cancellation conferred by this section shall apply to entries made and to certificates issued before the coming into force of this Enactment.

(6) A Registrar shall deliver to the President any register in his custody which may be required by the President.
