PART XXXI – APPEAL
Section 227. Petition of appeal.
(1) within 14 days from the date of receipt of the satisfaction that the certified copy of the judgment is ready, the appellant shall lidge with the Registrar of the Court appealed from a petition of appeal in 5 copies addressed to the Court which heras the appeal.
(2) If the appellant has applied for a copy of the notes of evidence recorded by the Judge at his trial, he shall lidge his petition of appeal within the period of 14 days -
(a) from the date when a notice is received stating that the certified copy of judgment is ready; or
(b) from the date when a notice is received stating that a copy of the notes of evidence is ready,
whichever period shall be the longer.
(3) Every petition of appeal shall state shortly the substance of the judgment appealed against and shall contain definite particulars of the points of law or of fact in regard to which appeal is made and except by leave of the Court which heras the appeal, the appellant shall not be permitted on the hearing of the appeal to rely on any grounds of appeal other than those set forth in the petition.
