ISLAMIC FAMILY LAW ENACTMENT 1983

PART I - PRELIMINARY

Section 6. Appointment of Chief Registrar, Registrar, Deputy Registrar and Assistant Registrar of Marriages and Divorces.

(1) The Yang di-Pertuan Agong may appoint any and proper public officer to be the Chief Registrar of Marriages, Divorces and Revocations of Divorces who will be giben such powers an functions for the proper administration of this Enactment.

(2) The Yang di-Pertuan Agong may appoint, as many Registrars, Deputy Registrars and Assistant Registrars of Marriages, Divorces and Revocations of Divorces as necessary for any Kariah Masjid who will be given such powers and functions for the proper administration of this Enactment.

(3) The Yang di-Pertuan Agong may by notification in the Gazette appoint any diplomatic officer of Malaysia in any country, whether by name or office, to be the Registrar of Marriages, Divorces and Revocations of Divorces for the purposes of this Enactment in that country.

(4) Every such person appointed as the Chief Registrar, Registrar, Deputy Registrar or Assistant Registrar of Marriages, Divorces and Revocations of Divorces shall be deemed to be the public servant for the purpose of the Penal Code.
