PART III - THE FATWA COMMITTEE
Section 22. Fatwa shall be binding
(1) Upon publication in the Gazette, a fatwa shall be binding on every Muslim in the State of Kedah Darul Aman as a dictate of his religion and it shall be his religious duty to abide by and uphold the fatwa, unless he is permitted by the Hukum Syarak to depart from the fatwa in matters of personal observance, belief or opinion.
(2) A fatwa may be recognized by all Syariah Courts in the State of Kedah Darul Aman as authoritative of all matters laid therein.
