PART II - MAJLIS AGAMA ISLAM DAN ADAT ISTIADAT MELAYU KELANTAN
Section 7. Duty of Majlis for socio-economic development of Muslims.
(1) It shall be the duty of the Majlis to promote, stimulate, facilitate and undertake the economic and social development and well being of the Muslim community in the State in accordance with Hukum Syarak.
(2) The Jamaah Ulama' shall be the body to advise the Majlis on the implementation of its duty under subsection (1) to ensure that the activities that are carried rowards such implementation does not involve any element which is not approved by the Religion of Islam.
(3) For the discharge of its duties under subsection (1) the Majlis shall have power-
(a) to carryon all activities which do not involve any element which is not approved by the Religion of Islam, particularly the development of commercial and industrial enterprises, the carrying on whereof appears to the Majlis to be requisite, advantageous or convenient for or in connection with the discharge of its said duty, including the manufacturing, assembling, processing; packing, grading and marketing of products;
(b) to promote the carrying on of any such activities by other bodies or persons and for that purpose to establish or expand or to carryon any such activities either under the control or partial control of the Majlis or independently and to give assistance to such bodies or other persons appearing to the Majlis to have the facilities for the carrying on of any such activities, including financial assistance by the taking up of shares or loan capital or by giving loans or otherwise;
(c) to carryon any such activities in association with other bodies or persons including the departments or authorities of the State government;
(d) to purchase, underwrite or otherwise acquire any stocks or shares in any public or private company and to dispose of stocks and shares on such terms and conditions as the Majlis may determine;
(e) to establish and maintain training and research institutions; and
(f) to do all acts which the Majlis considers desirable or expedient.
