PART II - MAJLIS AGAMA ISLAM DAN ADAT ISTIADAT MELAYU KELANTAN Dewan Syura
Section 40. Establishment of Dewan Syura.
(1) The Majlis may constitute a body to be called the Dewan Syura to function as a consultative body to help in promoting the establishment of the administration of the religion and society of Islam which is dynamic and to maintain and improve the image of the Majlis.
(2) The Dewan shall consist of-
(a) a Chairman who shall be appointed by His Royal Highness the Sultan;
(b) a Vice-Chairman who shall be appointed by His Royal Highness the Sultan;
(c) all the members of the Jamaah Ulama',
(d) not more than 40 persons from ulama', intellectuals and experts on Islam who shall be appointed by His Royal Highness the Sultan;
(e) four members of the Majlis to be elected in a meeting of the Majlis;
(f) three ex officio members that is the President, Vice-President and Secretary of the Majlis.
(3) The Dewan shall meet at least twice a year.
(4) The Majlis may, by notification in the Gazette, make rules-
(a) to provide for the proceedings of the Dewan, the mode of calling meetings and the carrying out of business;
(b) to constitute committees;
(c) to provide for allowances and privileges for the members;
(d) in general in all matter which is considered necessary or important by the Majlis to achieve the objects of the Dewan.
