Section 36. Destroying or defiling place of worship.

Anyone who destroys, damages, or defiles any place of worship, mosque or surau, or any of its equipment with the intention of thereby insulting or degrading the Religion of Islam commits an offence and shall, on conviction, be liable to a fine not exceeding three thousand ringgit or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding two years or to both.
