PART II - MARRIAGE Preliminaries to a Marriage
Section 18. Place of marriage.
(1) No marriage shall be solemnized except in the mukim in which the woman resides, but the Registrar or Syar'iah Judge giving permission to marry under section 15 or 16 may give permission for the marriage to be solemnized elsewhere, whether in Terengganu or in any other State.
(2) A permission under subsection (1) may be expressed in the permission to marry given under section 15 or 16.
(3) Notwithstanding subsection (1), a marriage may be solemnized in a mukim other than that where the woman resides if-
(a) in a case where the woman resides in Terengganu, a permission for the marriage to be solemnized has been given under section 15 or 16 and the permission for the solemnization of the marriage in the other mukim has been given under subsection (1); or
(b) in a case where the woman resides in any other State, a permission to marry and a permission for the marriage to be solemnized in the other mukim have been given by the proper authority of that State.
