PART VI - OFFENCES
Section 74. Contempts of religion.
(1) Whoever, by words spoken or written or by visible representations insults or brings into contempt or redicule or attempts to insults or brings into contempt or ridicule the Islamic religion or the tenets of any sect thereof shall be punishable with imprisonment not exceeding six months or with fine not exceeding $1,000.
ILLUSTRATION:
A, who is a Muslim, says that he is not a Muslim, A is guilty of an offence under this section as exposing the Muslim religion to contempt.
(2) Whoever, by words spoken or written or by visible representations insults or brings into contempt or ridicule the teaching of any lawfully authorised religious teacher or any fetua lawfully issued by the Mufti or under the provisions of this Enactment shall be punishable with imprisonment not exceeding three months or a fine not exceeding five hundred dollars.
