PART VI - CONVERSION TO ISLAM

Section 102. Declaration of a Muslim person.

(1) No person who has confessed that he is a Muslim by religion may declare that he is no longer a Muslim until a court has given its approval to that effect.

(2) Before the court gives its approval, the person shall be presumed to be a Muslim and any matter which is connected with the Religion of Islam shall be applied to him.

(3) If a Muslim person purposely att.empts either by words or deed to abandon the Religion of Islam the Court, may if so satisfied order such person to be detained in a Pusat Bimbingan Islam for a period not exceeding 36 months for the purpose of educating him and such person shall be asked to repent according to the Hukum Syarak.

(4) The officer in charge shall give a report of progress to the Court every month.

(5) The Pusat Bimbingan Islam shall be gazetted as a detention centre in the Gazette.
