PART IV - OFFENCES RELATING TO THE SANCTITY OF RELIGION AND ITS INSTITUTION

Section 14. Insulting, bringing into contempt etc., the Religion of Islam.

Anyone who by words, either spoken or written, or by signs, or by visible representation or by any act, activity or conduct, or otherwise in any other manner-

(i) insults, or is deemed to bring into contempt or attempts to insult or bring into contempt the Religion of Islam; or

(ii) derides, apes or ridicules the practices or ceremonies relating to the Religion of Islam,

commits an offence and shall, on conviction, be liable to a fine not exceeding three thousand ringgit or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding two years or to both.
