PART II - THE MAJLIS UGAMA ISLAM NEGERI SABAH

Section 10. Membership of the Majlis.

(1) The Majlis shall consist of the following members-

(a) a Chairman;

(b) a Deputy Chairman;

(d) State Secretary or his representative;

(e) the State Attorney-General or his representative;

(f) the Commissioner of Police or his representative;

(g) the Mufti; and

(h) eight other members.

(2) The Chairman, Deputy Chairman, and the members mentioned in paragraph (h) of subsection (1) shall be persons who are Muslims and shall be appointed by Yang di-Pertua Negeri on the vehice of the Minister for such term, not exceeding three years, as the Yang di-Pertua Negeri may determine.

(3) A member whose term of office has expired may be appointed.

(4) if at any time the person holding the appointment sentioned in paragraph (d) to (f) is not a Muslim, the Yang di-Pertua Negeri on the advice of the Minister shall appoint another officer who is a Muslim from the same Department or Ministry to be a member a place of that person.

(5) The persons who, immediately before the coming into force of this section, were the President, Deputy President, and appointed members of the Majlis Ugama Islam Negeri Sabah shall, subject to this Enactment, continue to be the Chairman, Deputy Chairman, and members of the Majlis respectively until the expiry of their current period of appointment.
