Section 40. Illegal payment of zakat or fitrah.

Anyone who wilfully pays or causes to be paid zakat or fitrah to any person not authorised to collect zakat or fitrah commits an offence and shall, on conviction, be liable to a fine not exceeding one thousand ringgit or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding six months or to both.
