Section 26 A. Search Warrant.

(1) A Kadhi on being satisfied upon written information on oath and after any enquiry which he may think necessary that there is good reason to believe that an offence against section 92, 93, 94, 95 or 96 of this Enactment is being committed or about to be committed in any place or premises, may by warrant in Form D of the Schedule authorise a police officer not below the rank of Inspector or Penyelia Ugama named therein, with such assistance as may be necessary by night or by day, to enter or go to such place or premises and to search the name and to arrest therein or thereat any person found committing any of the
offences aforesaid.

(2) Whoever in giving such written information on oath makes a statement which he knows or believes to be false or does not believe to be true shall be guilty of an offence and punishable on conviction to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 6 months.

(3) A search Warrant under this section shall be valid only within 7 days from the date of issue thereof.

(4) The provisions of sub-sectIons (2) and (3) of section 26 shall apply mutatis mutandis to a person arrested under this section.
